We have gathered the most frequently asked questions about NUMi, so everything feels simple from the very first use.

A NUMi story projected on the wall, a child watching without a screen

Meet NUMi

What is NUMi?

NUMi is a multimedia story projector for children that brings together image, sound and music. The starter set already includes 8 stories, that is 64 illustrations, which can also be played in English.

Does NUMi have a screen?

No, and that is one of its key strengths. Your child looks at large, calm illustrations reflected off a wall or ceiling, not at a glowing display held close to the face. Story time feels more like watching slides together than using a tablet.

How does NUMi work?

Place the story figure on top of the projector, slide a card into the pocket on the side, choose the language and enjoy calm story time, without an app and without Wi-Fi.

How do the stories in NUMi work?

Each card holds eight slides, which is the picture, while the figure holds the recorded character voices, narration and music. You slide the card into the pocket on the side, place the figure on top, choose the language and story time begins. Your child watches and listens, with nothing to select and nothing to skip.

How many languages can the stories be heard in?

Every story in the starter set can be heard in Polish and in English, and you choose the language before story time begins. That helps in bilingual homes and gently introduces English: a story your child already knows can be watched again in the other version.

Do I need the internet or an app to use NUMi?

No, NUMi works fully offline: it does not connect to Wi-Fi, needs no account, phone or app, shows no advertising and never suggests more content. All you need is a charged projector, the figure and a story card. We care about calm story time, without an excess of stimulation.

What is included in the NUMi starter set?

The set contains everything you need to start sharing stories right away: the NUMi projector, the story figure, a complete set of 8 slide cards and a USB-C charging cable. There are no batteries or extra accessories to buy.

Stories and content

How many stories are included in the starter set?

The starter set includes 8 stories from the first „Rabbit and Friends” series: eight cards with eight slides each, that is 64 illustrations. Every one of them can be heard in Polish and in English.

Is the content suitable and safe for children?

Yes, we write and illustrate every story ourselves, with calm childhood in mind. NUMi does not use the internet and shows no advertising, so your child sees exactly what is on the card and nothing more.

Who creates the NUMi stories and illustrations?

The first series was written by Maciej Orlicki and illustrated by Weronika Motylewska. We are currently working on two more series filled with new stories, characters and adventures. Every NUMi story is created exclusively for us and cannot be found anywhere else.

Will the story collection keep growing?

Yes, the world of NUMi will keep growing with new original stories. We are currently working on two new series that will join the collection soon.

Safety and your child's age

Is NUMi safe for a child?

Yes, NUMi meets the European toy safety standards EN 71-1, EN 71-2 and EN 71-3, carries the CE mark and complies with RoHS. Your child never looks into the light source, only at the image reflected off a wall or ceiling, and a built-in sensor pauses projection when it detects movement within 50 cm of the lens. NUMi does not connect to the internet, collects no data and shows no advertising.

Does NUMi emit blue light?

NUMi uses an LED, and every source of white light contains a blue component. What matters is how your child looks at it: with a tablet the eyes face a backlit screen from close range, while with NUMi your child watches an image reflected off a wall, so far less light reaches the eyes. The illustrations change calmly, in step with the story, without the fast cutting and flicker typical of video.

What age is the NUMi projector designed for?

NUMi is designed for children aged 3 and up and meets the EN 71-1, EN 71-2 and EN 71-3 standards; because it contains small parts, it is not suitable for younger children. There is no upper age limit: the youngest watch together with a parent, while older children operate the projector on their own.

Everyday use

Where can the stories be projected?

A light, smooth wall or the ceiling works best, in a darkened room. The ideal distance between the projector and the surface is 60 to 180 cm, and you set the focus by turning the lens ring. Projecting onto the ceiling works beautifully in the evening, once your child is already in bed.

Does NUMi need to be plugged in while in use?

No, NUMi has a built-in battery and runs cable free during story time. A full charge lasts about 4 to 6 hours, and charging over USB-C takes about 3 hours. You can carry the projector freely from room to room.

Can a child operate NUMi alone?

Yes, it is simple enough for a preschooler to master quickly: place the figure on top of the projector, slide a card into the pocket on the side and point the image at the wall. For the first few sessions it helps to be nearby, to set the focus together and show how cards are changed.

Is NUMi only for falling asleep?

No, evening story time is the most common way to use NUMi, but it works just as well during the day. It can be a calm break after preschool, a wind-down before a nap, an idea for a rainy afternoon or something to share with siblings.

Can NUMi be used as a night light?

Yes, once the story ends you can switch on the night light and, if you like, the lullabies too. The image fades and a warm, gentle glow remains, helping your child settle down, and you decide which option to choose. After all, we are Rabbit and Friends, so taming the dark is second nature to us.

Can NUMi be taken travelling?

Yes, NUMi is compact, runs on battery and needs no internet, so it works well on trips, at grandparents' or on holiday. Just pack the projector, the figure, a few story cards and the USB-C cable. A familiar story in an unfamiliar place often makes bedtime much easier.

What makes NUMi different

How is NUMi different from watching stories on a tablet or TV?

Above all in having no screen and no endless stream: there is no autoplay, no algorithm suggesting more content and no advertising. A story has a clear beginning and end, so story time finishes on its own, with no negotiating over „one more episode”. We care about calm childhood, and that is exactly what NUMi was made for: it settles rather than stimulates.

Why does NUMi come with a figure?

The story figure is not a decoration but the heart of the set: it holds the recorded character voices and narration. The card carries the picture and the figure carries the sound, so story time cannot begin without it. For a child it is a clear ritual: I pick up the figure, I place it on the projector, I listen to the story.

How are NUMi stories created?

We write and illustrate every story ourselves, from the very beginning, with heart and care. We look for stories that spark curiosity and imagination and leave something meaningful behind: a thought, a feeling or a gentle lesson. We believe in calm childhood, so NUMi is meant to support balance rather than disturb it.

If something does not work

How do I adjust the image focus?

You can adjust the image easily by turning the lens ring. For the best result, place the projector 60 to 180 cm from a wall or ceiling in a darkened room.

How long does NUMi run on one charge, and how long does charging take?

A fully charged battery gives about 4 to 6 hours of use, and a full charge takes about 3 hours. The indicator glows red while charging and turns green once it is complete.

What should I do if a story card does not work?

Make sure the card is pushed all the way into the pocket on the side of the projector and that the figure is in place on top of the housing, since it is the figure that plays the voices. If nothing happens even so, check the card for damage. Contact us if you need to, we will be happy to help.

The projector will not turn on. What should I do?

Check that the projector is charged. Use only the recommended 5V 1A power adapter for charging. A full battery charge takes about 3 hours.
